Catapult Shiraz
Wine
Wirra Wirra Catapult Shiraz is sourced from elevated vineyard sites in McLaren Vale. The wine is predominantly Shiraz, with a dash of Viognier co-fermented to aid the extraction of colour and flavour.
It is named in honour of the winery's second founder, Greg Trott, who fantasized building a medieval catapult to fling bottles of wine at neighbouring wineries.
During fermentation the wine is tasted twice daily to determine the precise level of hand plunging and maceration required. The ferments are then pressed to tank before nine months maturation in seasoned French oak.
Bright crimson, Wirra Wirra Catapult Shiraz is driven by fresh red and blue fruit flavours, silky tannins and notes of dried botanicals and spice. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
